Mixed finite element approximation for single phase flow on non-matching multiblock grids. The method uses mortar finite elements for matching fluxes across interfaces. The approximation errors for the pressure (color) and the flux (arrows) with two different mortar choices are compared. Discontinuous mortars (right figure) match fluxes locally (on each mortar element), but may lead to larger numerical error than continuous mortars (left figure). The two numerical schemes exhibit the same high asymptotical accuracy.
